On the eve of International Women’s Day, (March 08) awareness walk was organized at Lahore General Hospital under the leadership of Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and Ameer Uddin Medical College Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Fareed Zafar. In this event MS Prof. Dr. Nudrat Sohail, Principal Nursing College AMC/LGH, senior women doctors and nurses fully participated. Talking to the participants of the walk, Principal Prof. Al-Fareed Zafar said that no society can be complete without the practical participation of women folk. He added that according to the teachings of our religion and the practice of any developed society, we have to give women a legitimate place in every field so that they can ensure comprehensive and long-lasting development and prosperity together with men.

Principal PGMI further said that half of Pakistan’s population consists of women who are equally talented and courageous to work alongside men in every field. He further said that in the economic development of the country role of women has been always equal to that of men for stability and giving it a dignified place in the world which can never be forgotten. He pointed out that we can’t progress until the nation’s men and women not also contribute to the country’s development side by side. Islam has given them a high position in every respect and our religion ensures the self-respect of women in any society and gives them the same protection as it can be in a backward society, he added. Prof. Al-Fareed said that special attention should be given to the education and health of women in Pakistan and the working women doctors, nurses, teachers of Pakistan should play their positive role in the improvement of Pakistan by fulfilling the dream of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
