Maryam Nawaz Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is poised to make history as the First Female Chief Minister of Punjab. Last night, she was officially announced as the party’s nominee for this significant role. As the political heir of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz’s candidacy represents a groundbreaking moment in Punjab’s political landscape.

During a press conference held at the residence of PML-Q Chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif declared Maryam’s nomination for the position of Punjab CM. Shehbaz emphasized that the decision to nominate Maryam was made by the party leadership and the Quaid, Nawaz Sharif himself.

Having secured 131 seats in the Punjab Assembly, the PML-N, along with its coalition partners, is all set to form the government in the province. Additionally, the PML-N leadership has chosen Shehbaz Sharif as their candidate for the Prime Minister seat. The Pakistan Peoples Party and the Muttahida Quami Movement have also pledged their support for Shehbaz.
